This is the first piece of a series called WITH YOU, commissioned by an artist friend who wanted to challenge me with a limited color palette of “black and white, and just a pop of color”. Reading the Bible one day, he was intrigued by the fact that Jesus, in the face of suffering and death, longed to spend his last supper on earth with his disciples who were not only his followers but his friends and the people closest to him. The painting reflects the perseverance of Jesus’ desire to be with them. Also, amidst our own struggling and suffering Jesus’ desire to be with us perseveres and remains true.
