About Greta.

Greta Jambor is an abstract painter based in metro Atlanta, Georgia.

Born and raised in Kiel, a small city on the Baltic Sea in Northern Germany, she carries her Nordic roots into her creative practice. She studied art pedagogy at the University of Flensburgand taught for several years before relocating to the United States with her husband and three children. Greta has been fascinated by color for as long as she can remember. What began as playful experimentation grew into a deliberate exploration of how color can communicate emotions, memories, and experiences that words cannot. Her art transforms sensory impressions the yellow of a rose, the shifting blues of the Baltic Sea, or the warmth of coffee in a teal mug — into layered acrylic compositions that capture fleeting, intangible moments. Her paintings have been exhibited locally and collected internationally, resonating with viewers who find honesty and emotional depth in her work. Greta’s goal is to create art that stirs reflection and joy, offering each viewer a personal and subjective experience that connects them to what lies beneath the surface of daily life.

Artist Statement.

Greta Jambor’s paintings explore color as a language that transcends words. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, she layers hues, textures, and gestures to translate fleeting perceptions and inner states into visual form. Each piece begins without a fixed outcome, evolving through an intuitive process of movement, erasure, and layering. Her inspiration arises from ordinary moments charged with emotional weight — the sound of her son’s piano, the vibrant red of a cardinal in green woods, or the icy blues of the Baltic Sea from her childhood. Through these impressions, Greta creates abstract works that aim to evoke sensation rather thandepict form. She values abstraction for its openness: her paintings do not dictate meaning but instead invite personal interpretation. One viewer may feel energized, another soothed, while another is reminded of a memory. For Greta, this subjectivity is the beauty of art — it offers each person exactly what they need. Her aim is to connect through color and composition, creating spaces where viewers encounter joy, reflection, and recognition of the invisible layers of human experience.
